Fantastic opportunity for Worcestershire’s performing artists

Developing Artists in Rural Touring

Performing artists and companies in Worcestershire are being offered a fantastic opportunity to develop their skills as part of DART (Developing Artists in Rural Touring). A new programme managed by Live & Local with support from Worcestershire County Council, the scheme is designed to develop artists towards performance opportunities within the county and in the wider rural and small-scale touring contexts.

Applications are now open for Stage 1 of the Development Programme. This is centred on DART-Day, in which up to eight artists or groups will have the opportunity to showcase their work to a professional panel and receive feedback, take part in workshops on rural touring and working within Worcestershire, and enjoy informal networking. DART-Day will take place on Wednesday 20th November at Number 8 Community Arts Centre, Pershore.

Performing artists from any artform, including theatre, music, dance and storytelling, are encouraged to apply. The project welcomes applications from artists or groups based in Worcestershire, or those making (or having the capacity to make) work in Worcestershire or for Worcestershire audiences. Go to the website for more information and to apply online: The deadline for applications is Wednesday 28th August at 5pm.

DART is managed by Live & Local, the professional arts organisation which also manages Shindig – Worcestershire’s programme of professional live arts and entertainment for community venues. With over 20 years’ experience, Live & Local is one of the largest community touring scheme managers in England and works with a network of voluntary groups across Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire to support arts activities intended to bring local communities together and provide high quality entertainment.

DART has been created with the support of Worcestershire County Council.
